Trash Collection

Our trash and recycling company is ALM Disposal Services.

  • Tuesdays and Fridays: Trash pick up only
  • Wednesdays: Recycling pick up only

Put your trash out no earlier than 5pm on the evening before pickup. If you miss the pickup, take your trash back in until the next pick up day.

There is no trash pickup on these holidays should they fall on a trash pick up day (Tuesday or Friday):

  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year's Day

HOLIDAY TREE PICKUP

Holiday tree pick ups will occur on the first two Wednesdays of January 2024. These dates will be

  • January 3rd, 2024
  • January 10th, 2024

Homeowners that place holiday trees out outside of these dates will incur a fine.

Holiday pickup schedules will vary and will be updated on our site accordingly with ALM Disposal Services' guidelines.

Trash/Recycling Guidelines:

Recycling: Recyclable materials include newspapers, magazines, catalogs, books, mixed paper, cereal boxes and similar, flattened cardboard no larger than 4’ x 4’, glass, aluminum and metal food and beverage containers, and plastic bottles, jugs and containers. The recycling method is “single-stream” which allows for the co-mingling of all recyclable materials in the recycling container.

Yard Debris: Fairfax County’s recent new rules for yard waste (grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, brush) collection, specifically about the use of plastic bags, has been postponed indefinitely. However, the Board would like to still urge residents to use biodegradable paper bags and/or use personal containers marked “Yard Debris.”

Bulk Items: Do you need to dispose of bulk items such as furniture, mattresses or drywall? Bulk pickups need to be requested and approved by ALM Disposal and the HOA. Items will only be collected if a special bulk pickup request is scheduled ahead of time. Contact info@lafayettepark.us to schedule your request and if approved, we will provide the instructions and times to place  outside. Do not place bulk items outside unless it’s after 7pm of the night before pickup and your request is confirmed. Homeowners in violation of these rules will be subject to fines by the HOA.

County Regulations: The following items will not be collected: liquids of any kind, asbestos, ammunition, fuel tanks, hazardous, radioactive, infectious or medical waste, petroleum contaminated soil, dead animals, manure, dangerous acids, caustics, explosives, or other dangerous material or items too large or too heavy to be loaded safely into the collection vehicles. For proper disposal of these items, call the Fairfax County Office of Solid Waste at 703.631.1179, or go to http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpwes/trash/disphhw.htm

Parking

Each home is provided two (2) parking permits and two (2) spaces - one of which is a specified reserve spot with your designated townhome lot number. Parking passes must be displayed at all times on rearview mirrors whether your vehicle is parked in a marked or unmarked spot. If your vehicle is towed, please contact Fairfax County Non-emergency at  703.691.2131 and Dominion Towing and at 703.339.2400 and/or for more information.

Approval for Architectural Changes

Any exterior modifications to your home must be approved by the Board. Please submit a Request For Improvements Form to the Architectural Review Committee. Reference your Community Handbook & Architectural Guidelines located under the Resident References page for more information.

Power/Electricity

For questions regarding electricity for your home, please contact Dominion Energy at 866.366.4357

Water Shut Off

Water should not be shut off to any homes besides your own without notifying the Board and receiving approval in advance. Proper notification is needed to advise those affected by full row shut-offs. For questions and pre-approvals regarding water, please contact Fairfax Water at 703.698.5800.

Grounds & Landscaping

Please check with the board before making any changes to trees, shrubs, lawn, landscaping, etc. Landscaping (with the exception of the enclosed rear yards) changes are considered exterior modifications and require a Request For Improvements form submission. For trees that are not on common grounds, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain and clean up any yard debris and fallen tree limbs. For the full guidelines on landscaping, please refer to page 23 in the Community Handbook.

Pets

Lafayette Park is a pet-friendly neighborhood. Make sure your dogs are leashed and vaccinated per Fairfax County regulations. Be considerate of your neighbors, and remember to pick up and dispose of your pet’s waste. It’s the law and punishable by county fines and the HOA.
